What is iTunes Mastering? Try it risk free.
Apple released a collection of audio encoding tools with little fanfare. For mastering engineers, and any artists wishing to sell their tracks on iTunes, it is actually a great step forward. Your fans can now listen to “near studio grade” audio by removing the process of downsampling and bit reduction for standard CD players or even worse yet, to lossy AAC and MP3 encoders.
This means mastering engineers like Jeff Steinmetz are now equipped with tools allowing them to see how songs mastered at 24 bits will clip (that is, distort audibly) when they go through the standardized AAC encoding process. That’s been difficult to do in the past. Seeing the places where all lossy encoders creates clipping in the music gives engineers a reference for how to adjust the master recordings to avoid that distortion. The uncompressed files are then submitted to iTunes, which creates lossless versions before encoding the songs as 256 kpbs AAC files for sale in the iTunes store.
We are offering new customers a free demo of their music mastered before you are billed for the session.
WHAT WE PROVIDE:
We offer affordable and fast online mastering services using mastering grade analog and digital gear to add stereo enhancement, warmth, pressure, density, and volume to all frequencies. We work with you to understand what your aesthetic is before we proceed. It is always difficult to “describe” music, so we ask for a list of your favorite tracks – tracks that you feel capture the type of sound you wish your finished product would sound like.
We welcome clients in the San Francisco metro area to attend the mastering session. Alternatively, send us your tracks using our secured drop box.
PROFESSIONAL AUDIO MASTERING
The digital revolution has simplified the process of music making. Artists today have a wealth of resources available at their finger tips, allowing them to compose, record, mix, and print music seamlessly. Nevertheless, the results always seem to lack that professional touch. Why? The answer is mastering!
Software recording programs today come with built in mastering plug-ins. However, artists will continue to seek the type of quality offered by hi-end mastering suites for additional processing, polishing, editing, balancing, and other professional touches. If applied properly, these enhancements make a dramatic difference in the quality, impact, image, and competitiveness of the final release. Top mastering gear, operated by an engineer with significant experience and the “right set of ears”, is required to bring music to its optimum level.
We can help musicians achieve their goals. We work with artists from around the world who are submitting their music to record labels and for online distribution. We also work with DJ’s who are looking to play their tracks in top clubs. Musicians choose us when they want experienced engineers, who respect their artistic vision, to optimize their work.
